Adidas has recently introduced the Adizero Prime X 2 Strung, the latest innovation in its record-breaking Adizero franchise. Available globally from September 15, 2023, this shoe is designed to push the boundaries of running technology. Unlike conventional models that adhere to race regulations, this shoe boasts a stack height of 50mm and a double carbon-infused plate system, making it illegal for elite races but perfect for runners aiming to break personal records.

Breaking the Mold with Design

The shoe is designed without the constraints of race regulations, which typically limit shoes to a maximum stack height of 40mm and one carbon plate. The re-engineered midsole features three layers of LIGHTSTRIKE PRO foam, more than in any other Adidas running shoe. Coralie Ho-Von, Global Product Manager Running Footwear at Adidas, stated, “Without the confines of the usual rules, we had space to unleash the full creative capabilities of our product design team.”

Innovation upon Innovation

STRUNG Upper

The STRUNG upper is meticulously crafted to provide layered strengthening in areas that require it the most, such as the midfoot and heel. It also offers targeted flexibility in key expansion zones in the forefoot. The inclusion of a knitted tongue enhances the lock-in feel.

Three Layers of LIGHTSTRIKE PRO + CONTINENTAL™ Outsole

The shoe features three layers of LIGHTSTRIKE PRO foam, creating a stack height of 50 mm. The new midsole, sandwiched between two full-length layers of foam, helps to reduce weight and provide more spring in the fore- and midfoot. The outsole is made of Continental™ compound, ensuring superior grip on challenging surfaces.

Double Carbon-Infused Plate System

The new LIGHTSTRIKE PRO core is framed by two carbon-infused plates, designed to create a platform for more responsiveness throughout the run.

The Adizero Prime X 2 Strung is priced at €300 / $300 and is available for purchase via the Adidas app, online, in stores, and through selected retailers.
